A week of women in white

All dressed in white…but not the bride. spohszine is featuring my favorite white – the understated glam color. White is flattering to any skin tone, any shape and size; but really difficult to pull off. White dresses have a life of its own and you don’t need to exert extra effort to look good on them…you just need not mess with its purity, flawlessness and cleanliness. Redundant? Oh well, that’s how I love whites.

Irina Shayk was the guest of honor at the 60th birthday party for Fawaz Gruosi, president and founder of de Grisogono. The Russian supermodel looked heavenly wearing an ethereal Marchesa strapless chiffon gown with crystal embroidered bodice. With all those crystals on her gown, you’d have thought she would’ve been all blinged out, but the jewelry founder bestowed upon her some quite magnificent diamond-and-emerald de Grisogono jewels. Beyonce Knowles adds humanitarian to her ever growing list of accomplishments as she lends her celebrity to help bring awareness to World Humanitarian Day (August 19). The singer was spotted arriving at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York City on Friday (August 11, 2012), to tape her ‘I Was Here’ video in support of the cause. Dressed in a white Alexander McQueen bell sleeve pencil dress with peplum waist, the singer added tri-color Ruthie Davis ‘Boardwalk’ splatform peep-toes to her look. Allowing her beauty to shine through, Bey opted to go sans accessories, swapping out her summertime braids for a simple high ponytail. Beyoncé Knowles donned white again when she took to the stage at the United Nations General Assembly on Friday – August 11, 2012 in New York City. The singer performed ‘I Was Here’, which was taped in front of a live audience to premiere today, August 19, on World Humanitarian Day. Not only did she leave the audience breathless with her performance, but also her stunning Marc Bouwer Pre-Fall 2012 gown. Her white micro-sequin long-sleeve gown with bold shoulders and a cut-out detail could be mistaken for a couture gown. Kate Beckinsale was back on the red carpet Monday evening (August 13, 2012) for the Berlin premiere of her latest movie, ‘Total Recall’, held at the Sony Center in Germany. She was a vision of loveliness wearing a Naeem Khan Fall 2012 gown. The ivory-and-nude rose-swirl embroidered gown is much preferred for Kate over the black-and-white runway version. Opting to wear the gown without the bow accent and modifying the deep-plunge for a demure v-neck, the British actress was radiant on the red carpet. You won’t be surprised to learn that the actress wore matching satin pumps with this look. She doesn’t leave the dress to do all the work as she adds beautiful coral earrings, an oversized green statement ring and gold Brian Atwood ‘Rizzo’ sandals to accessorize her look. After many false starts she finally got out of the blocks wearing a breathtaking Giambattista Valli Spring 2012 Couture dress. Her unique masculine/feminine look consisted of a chic tuxedo shirt with lace sleeves accented with a feather peplum and a floral appliqué pencil skirt. Once again there are no ‘buts’ as she styled her look with Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle’ neon-pink pumps and dazzling gold jewels. Her makeup and glossy brunette tresses were flawless. Jordin Sparks glided down the red carpet at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California, Thursday evening for the premiere of her latest movie ‘Sparkle’. Living up to the movie’s title, the former ‘American Idol’ looked breathtaking wearing a Chagoury Couture white strapless sequined gown. The corseted creation was adorned with crystals which cascaded down the bodice to the train, giving a truly dazzling effect. Shape’s August cover girl added silver accessories including a clutch and jewels.
