PRESCRIPTION CHIC: PILULE BAG BY CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN
Emulating a pill, the Pilule Bag is as straight-up kooky as it gets. This eyeball-grabbing blue-and-white bag is one of eight quirky designs from Christian Louboutin’s, well, capsule collection for the label’s 20th anniversary.
Christian Louboutin has unveiled a new capsule collection, to celebrate his 20th anniversary in fashion. The range, inspired by his most famous and best-loved styles, features a mixture of flats (including mannish brogues and summer sandals), and his signature towering heels, from thigh-high boots and studded platforms to dainty stilettos adorned with pretty bows.
The 20 styles of shoes and six bags, inspired by Louboutin’s work over the past 20 years, went on sale in the UK on February 27 at a pop-up shop in Selfridges – before arriving in boutiques worldwide in March.
“In France, 20 years defines a generation,” Louboutin said. “This is a celebration of the first generation of this brand; an anniversary of its first young adventure.
“Each style included in this special collection is rich with history, full of life and carries with it a unique story of creation and inspiration,” a statement by the brand read. “These styles are moments in the life and evolution of a designer, the women who covet these objects of desire and the flourishing brand which is instantly recognizable by its unmistakable red soles. The innovation and imagination behind Louboutin’s mesmerizing shoes and his utter devotion to women have impressed an influential mark on the world of design and have established him as one of the world’s most visionary and important shoemakers.”
Trivia time: The inimitable fashion maven Katy Perry carried this bag to Viktor & Rolf’s Autumn-Winter 2012 runway show in Paris, with blue hair to match — a reflection, perhaps, of her emotional state post-Russell Brand? While not everyone would want to follow the heartbroken star’s lead from (blue) head to toe, the style savvy can easily swallow the Pilule. –luxury-insider.com + photos, InStyle.com + photo, additional photos courtesy of tumblr.com
