A. Lange & Söhne’s art of precision watchmaking is arguably unrivalled. A Lange & Söhne: A quest for lunar precision

The accuracy of standard A. Lange & Söhne moonphase models such as the DATOGRAPH PERPETUAL, SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR, 1815 MOONPHASE and LANGE 1 MOONPHASE is 122 years, after which the watch only needs to be corrected by one day. The latest model by A. Lange & Söhne, the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR, surpasses all boundaries, mirroring the brand’s drive to constantly craft the world’s finest watches. It is the German manufactory’s latest haute horlogerie masterpiece which unites two classic complications with the expressive LANGE 1 style.

The tenth masterpiece to be added to A. Lange & Söhne’s most famous watch family, the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR, embodies fundamentally new mechanical solutions. All displays of the perpetual calendar – the outsize date, the retrograde day, the month ring, the aperture leap year, and the moon-phase indication – switch instantaneously and thus always deliver unambiguous readings. The mechanism is designed such that it must only be advanced by one day on March 1st of the secular year 2100. And the moonphase display will even run true for 122 years before it needs to be corrected by one day.

This 122 year deviation is an extraordinary achievement, even for the master watchmakers at A. Lange & Söhne, who appreciate the significance of the lunar calendar across the globe, and specifically in the Middle East with reference to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. “We are proud to launch our latest timepiece featuring a moonphase, which is also our finest complication of 2012. The LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR is a limited edition in platinum, making it particularly special,” stated Matthieu Dupont, Middle East Brand Manager, A. Lange & Söhne.

The so far most complicated member of the LANGE 1 family comes with a diameter of 41.9 millimeters, and of course the iconic Lange-style quality hallmarks of the beautiful and technically superlative movement.
