Ralph Lauren removes Polo from title
Premium US fashion house Polo Ralph Lauren Corp is set to remove the word ‘Polo’ from its company title, according to reports.
The decision is said to be a reflection of Ralph Lauren’s evolving brand collection, where there are several labels that already do not include Polo in their name. It partners the recent readjustment of polo.com to ralphlauren.com as the company’s website in 2008.

Shareholders voted on the move and announced it at the company’s annual meeting yesterday.
The company’s first quarter results increased 52.4% this week to $184.1m (£113.64 million), with revenues up 32.4% to $1.53bn (£994.5m). It is also expanding in China, India and Russia, along with focussing on Europe after the company reported 7% sales growth in the region in May.
This autumn it is also set to launch its upscale formal sportswear brand Ralph Lauren Rugby in the UK with a store in London’s Covent Garden. It also launched a UK version of its website in October last year. - drapersonline
