Dolce&Gabbana hosts AC Milan victory party
Dolce&Gabbana launches “Milan Fashion Soccer Players Portraits” book
Just this Thursday, 19th of May 2011, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana celebrated AC Milan’s 18th Serie A football championship – the team won on May 7, 2011 against Inter Milan – with the whole team and their supporters. The party has taken place at Dolce & Gabbana Men’s boutique, Corso Venezia 13, Milan.
An exhibition in the style of AC Milan, thanks to a maxi screen that brings to life the most beautiful goals of the recently ended season, as well as the photos of the book and the live comments of the fans. The designer-duo gave a party for the presentation of the new book “MILAN FASHION SOCCER PLAYERS PORTRAITS” dedicated to AC Milan, a series of sophisticated portraits in black and white shot at Milanello by photographer Marco Falcetta. The famous fashion photographer focused not on the athletes’ bodies – as already done in the past for many successful books and advertising campaigns – but rather presented a personal view of the players. The stylish portraits, signed by young and eclectic photographer for his first collaboration with Dolce&Gabbana, offer a new image of these modern gladiators, where their style is more effective than many words in describing their mood and personality, as players and as men, in a series of pages dedicated to each member of the team.

The book offers a new occasion for reflection on the changes in society at the time of social networks: fashion, like the new soccer, becomes available to everybody but at the same time, fashion is seen as the modern language to express one’s individuality. Dolce and Gabbana further stated that “Fashion today is to be considered the new soccer. Dressing the AC Milan players one by one, finding – with their help – the right ensemble and combining fashion with personal needs is our way of continuing an experiment namely, expressing the world of today, the changes, the breakdown of boundaries, and strangely enough the importance of the individual, his or her uniqueness.”
Adriano Galliani, Massimiliano Allegri, Massimo Ambrosini, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexandre Pato, Thiago Silva, Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf, Kevin Prince Boateng and the whole AC Milan team were present.
This project contributes to the further development of Fondazione Milan, a non-profit organization that started in 2003 to sustain regularly various activities aiming at promoting social well-being for the weakest areas of the population, with a particular focus on children and their rights.
